All of us must have faced the situation of CDs and DVDs getting corrupted because of scratches and dust. The most common error when this situation occurs is “Cannot Read from source destination”. This situation occurs when there is some error in the disc and not able to read the data continuously.
You may be able to recover some data from this disc even if its not working properly. IsoBuster is one such software which recovers data from a bad or trashed CD or DVD disc, save important documents, precious pictures and videos.
Firstly clean the disc properly with a good cloth, clearing the dust. If needed you can use water or mild detergent. IsoBuster can supports a variety of CD and DVD formats for data recovery.
Some of the supported formats include CD-i, VCD, SVCD, SACD, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-MRW, … DVD-ROM, DVCD, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+MRW, DVD+R Dual Layer, DVD-R Dual Layer, DVD+RW Dual Layer, DVD+VR, DVD+VRW, DVD-VR, DVD-VRW, DVD-VM, BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-R DL, BD-RE, BD-RE DL, BD-R SRM, BD-R RRM, BD-R SRM+POW, BD-R SRM-POW, BDAV, BDMV HD DVD-ROM, HD DVD-R, HD DVD-R DL, HD DVD-RW, HD DVD-RW DL, HD DVD-RAM, HD DVD-Video.
IsoBuster will read from the disc and skip affected sectors and thus retrieving data. IsoBuster shows you all the tracks and sessions located on the media, combined with all file-systems that are present. This way you get easy access, just like explorer, to all the files and folders per file-system.
IsoBuster is a good software to recover data from damaged disc, especially if you looking to recover pictures and videos.
I used Clone CD and Clone DVD to rescue data from a few discs that were unable to be read by my Drive..
For linux users, DVDDisaster has the same functionality.
This has been a very reliable product for me from the past 2 years.I had first installed it when I got a shock that my newly burnt CD was not opening. Since then the first thing after a format I do is install Isobuster 🙂
Hey btw, the ad in the post content makes the layout of the post look very odd. Instead keep the ad in its own place. Mixing it with the post content, is making it look distractive.
@Vijay,
Clone DVD is also a good utility, I have tried it.
@Binny,
Thanks for the info.
@Nitinpai,
Good to hear your feedback on the product.
Thanks for the suggestion on the ad, I’ll not done with the actual changes, experimenting a bit. 🙂
Nirmal, I would actually be needing a button like the “Subscribe” (to email) button you are having but in a white background..
Any idea where I can get a button like that? If I simply get the base without the text, that’d be OK as well!
Thanks!
I could have used this a year ago when I had a bunch of DVDs I couldn’t get the data off of. I ended up redoing a lot of stuff.
@Vijay,
The subscribe to button was made by me using photoshop, let me check if I can make it in white background. I feel you can use the same one.
@RT,
Even I too had to redo many stuffs before, but now I always try this. 🙂
If you could do it, that’d be great.. Thanks!
Yeah, I tried this ISO buster. Its very easy to use and effective too.
Once,I was searching for a damaged CD recovery software and I found this, tried it and it worked well for me.
I was able to recover most of the images from an old burnt CD.
@Vijay,
I’ll try.
@Roxi,
Good to hear your feedback on the software.
Gr8 Post Nirmal. This one is my Fav software. 🙂
Thanks for the tip. I need to recover some data from some CDs that dates back to 1995… I never thought for looking up for such softwares… may be I will find some free/GPL softwares for the same.
