This is a guest post by Ramkarthik of Blogging Tune. He gives tips on blogging, and making money online. He is also a freelance writer for hire.
It is not always possible for a blogger to stay in house and blog all the time whether it is full time or part time. Every blogger will take and has to take rest for sometime at least once in three months. You can go on a holiday, or if you are a student like me, then you will have exams every three months and blogging at these times are hard. But if you stop blogging for more than 10 days, your readers might not read come more often to your blog and think you have quit blogging. Even if you say you are on holiday, chances are less for them to come. I have experienced this when I left my blog without any post for nearly 30 days. It is really tough to get back once you have lost the pace. So here are a few things that you can do to keep up the pace:
- Ask Your Friends To Guest Blog:
You are already seeing me doing it. Guest bloggers can maintain the pace of your blog. You may have a thought that getting guest bloggers is tough. But the truth is that, you can get one very easily. If you are there in the blogosphere for many days or months, then you will have no problem. You can even ask one of your blog’s regular readers or commentator, to write guest posts for you. - Special Week:
Announce in your blog that you will be creating awareness about a topic and you want your readers to co-operate. Then post pictures about it one day, videos on the topic one day, a guest post one day and your own post one day. Do all these before you go and use the time stamp. At the end of the week, when you return, announce a small gift to one of the person who helped you a lot in creating awareness. By this way, you create awareness, you give something useful to your readers and also you spend your week with no tension. - A Competition:
This is one of the best ways to run the blog when you are on holiday. Have a group writing competition. Then write few update posts or reminder posts for your readers using time stamp. After you return, select the winner and announce it. This will get more readers and subscribers to your blog. But I don’t advice the new bloggers to choose this method because it is not easy to get participants for your competition.
So if you are planning to go on a holiday or if you have exams, don’t let your blog without any posts. Once you lose the pace of your blog, it is not easy to get back. Do one of the above the three and keep up the pace of your blog. If you follow them, don’t forget to tell me your experience about it. I would also like to know from you the methods which you followed to keep up the pace when you were on holiday. Please share it in the comments.
Very nice tip. Great guest post too. Nice job 😀
Excellent guest post. Great work
These tips are extremely useful for new bloggers like me.
As far as I am concerned, whenever I have less time to spend on blogosphere, I usually prefer posting software reviews and their download links. I am almost addicted to trying new softwares everyday. So it becomes very easy and fast to write on any of them.
😆
Good post. I guess it’s good to have some backup posts ready too just in case you can’t post on a particular day.
Thanks everyone. Glad you all like it and find the info useful. Thanks Nirmal for the opportunity. 😀
Very nice tips. This should defnitely ensure the blog juice keeps flowing everytime. Great post Ramkarthik :-).
Good post
I completely agree with the fact that if you are on holiday and return then its really hard to get back as the rhythm gets broken .
Backup posts and WP future posting is a great saver i recently used this on my own blog when i was away for one week
That is great advice. The internet is a funny place . People will not wait around for you. Everything is instant. Attention spans are short.
I’ve recently slowed down posting on a social network site that I am a part of. I’m not going to friends pages and leaving comments like I was in the past. There is a huge difference between how much traffic I was getting to my profile then and what I’m getting now. If you don’t have yourself in people’s face saying, “Look at me,” they aren’t going to look at you.
good tips Ram 🙂
may be next time some 1 can give tips regarding “How to get your lost readers after you are on a Holiday ” 💡
Good one, Ram! 😀
It’s a great guest post. I believe I have lost my pace too. going to find it back and make a good fight back!
@ Keith, Thanks and glad you liked it.
@ Shashank, Indeed the WP future posting feature rocks.
@ Robert Eilers, You have made a good point there. It is really hard to make others to turn back at you and once you have done it, you should try to maintain it. It can be done by commenting on their blogs and various other methods.
@ Rahul, Good idea for a nice post. Maybe I’ll write on it in after few days because I’m on track of getting my visitors back to my blog after I stopped blogging for nearly one month.
@ Ken, All the best in getting them back.
Great post.
I would like you to know that guest blogging helps. I just subscribed to you blog Ramkarthik.
@ Fred, Thanks a lot. Its great to know that I have got a valuable reader for my blog. I hope my blog will meet the expectations from you. 🙂 🙂
Thanks Nirmal for the opportunity. 🙂 🙂
another one. why don’t we write some contents earlier, before the holiday and auto schedule it to post automatically later on certain dates?
@ TechMalaya, Yeah good point.
Whenever i plane to be away from bloggin, i prepare a few posts in advance or ask my friends to write a few guest post.
Nice tips buddy 😀
Great post, Ram. WordPress future timestamp is definitely a handy option for us all 😀
@Madhur, Ram and Shankar
Thanks for your comments. 🙂
Great post, thanks… another way to keep up when you are out of town is to get your email mobile, either on a phone or a way to be able to check it online. It will be a smaller pile when you return. Scott
Scot, That’s a great tip. Appreciate your ideas. 🙂
