BurnAware is a free disc burning application that can burn not only CDs and DVDs but also HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray discs. This is the only freeware which can burn both high definition formats. The freeware interface is fairly simple and easy to use. Since high definition media is still expensive, the burning feature of high-def discs may not be much useful, but still its better than other free ware burning software because of this feature.
The free edition has limitations, there are few basic features missing in the free version. These include multi-session discs, UDF discs, bootable discs, ISO formatting, CD text and creating ISO images.
The basic version is absolutely free, no spyware, no adware, no banners. BurnAware has a clean, flexible, easy to use interface and supports Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista.

Now that there is no competition for Blue ray…the prices for blue ray discs have increased…so its gonna be tough for the masses in countries like India though Bollywood is releasing its first movie in Blue Ray
Been using Infrarecorder for quite a while.
BurnAware’s interface seems very attractive, need to try it 🙂
I was using Ashampoo and it’s also a freeware. It can also burn HD DVD if I’m correct. Anyway it didn’t have the menu-UI like BurnAware.
@Joel,
True, its very expensive.
@Shankar and Ashwin,
What I liked about BurnAware is the simple and near Interface.
I’m using StarBurn from Rocket Division Software. BurnAware shares actual burning engine with the StarBurn and takes pretty much from it’s UI as well 🙂
