Google has introduced the much awaited feature in Google Docs, the offline editing feature. Starting from today and over the coming weeks Google will be rolling out offline editing access to word processing documents to Google Docs users. With this, you will no longer need an internet connection to edit documents in your computer from Google Docs.
With this feature you don’t have to remember to save documents locally before packing my laptop for a trip. You don’t have to remember to save my changes as soon as you get back online. And I don’t have to switch applications based on network connectivity.
Google Docs offline is powered by Google gears and with the initial release, you can view and edit word processing documents; right now they don’t support offline access to presentations or spreadsheets. Further offline access is available only in English and it will be soon available to Google apps users as well.
