HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multi-platform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 converter, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows. The input source for this Freeware can be any DVD source, DVD image or real DVD (encrypted or unencrypted). It also supports few of .VOB and .TS files. Another important feature of HandBrake is that it has full support for the AppleTV Take 2 and the latest iPhone/iPod Touch firmware.

I have stopped using any video conversion softwares. I used to play with them in my initial days of computing, they consume much processor resource and quality sucks if any other resource consuming utility is used in parallel.
I love HandBrake so much.. Haha
