Mobical is a web service which provides free backup and restore service for your mobile phones. Mobical allows users to backup and synchronize Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Tasks, SMS Text Messages and Bookmarks from a mobile device to an online server using SyncML. Most middle and high end phones from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola and LG sold today have a built in SyncML synchronization client.
To synchronize your phone, it must be able to connect to the Internet. Connection type can be GPRS, 3G, WLAN etc. This is the same requirement as for using WAP browser on handset. You will need to create a FREE account. After logging in, you need to set up the account, by selecting the manufacturer and then the mobile phone model.
Next you will need to enter your phone number where the settings will be sent. You can set up the Sync automatically or configure it manually in case you are not getting the SMS delivered.
To synchronize you need:
- A device with a SyncML synchronization client.
- Handset Internet connectivity
- An updated web browser
Once synchronized, you will be able to back up your phone data and also restore from any back up.
Quite useful specially because I have a knack to lose my contacts on my phone due to my own silly mistakes 🙂
Good service. My provider so far only provide contact number back up. I’m expecting soon they will inprove it to message back up.
