BatterySaver is a simple application which would help you to save battery on your laptops. There are many application for battery monitoring, but none of them actually saves battery when you need it. BatterySaver allows laptop users to perform actions based on battery notification events. For example, when you are in flight, most of them might not have internet, so it makes sense that you turn off services which are related to it.
The goal of BatterySaver is to provide a service that can respond to power change notifications by performing any of a set of configuration actions. BatterySaver is designed to be modular, so additional actions can easily be added. The main disadvantage of batterysaver is that it does not have an interface, you need to edit the XML file attached and add the services which needs to be disabled or enabled based on your current power plan.
The application will run in user-mode but has no UI components. Modifying the configuration requires hand-editing an XML file and re-running the executable.
You can save power using this application by:
- Start and stop processes;
- Start and stop services; and
- Enable and disable devices
BatterySaver is a nice concept which really makes sense, but the lack of an interface might make novice users a bit difficult to use.
