Most of the routers available today allows you to save the current config file to your desktop in case you want to back them up. The config file contains network configuration details, ISP details and the network connectivity passwords. In case you have forgotten your router password, but has the config file, you can now recover the passwords using RouterPassView. It is a free portable tool which can get the passwords from the config file.
This tool will not be able to recover passwords from all routers since there are lots of models available in the market. It can be used to recover passwords of Linksys, Edimax, Siemens, Dynalink, NETGEAR, ASUS, COMTREND, US Robotics and D-Link.
RouterPassView doesn’t require any installation process or additional DLL files. In order to start using it, simply run the executable file. After running RouterPassView, you can open your router configuration file by using ‘Open Router Config File’ option (Ctrl+O) or by dragging the config file from Explorer into the main window of RouterPassView
It is supported on Windows 2000 to Windows 7.
