WordPress is an amazing blogging platform with lots of features and there is the free WordPress.com and also the self hosted WordPress.org. If you using WordPress.com, you might be knowing that there are many restrictions imposed, but if you own a domain, you can now easily move your WordPress.com blog to self hosted blog. Although moving your blog from WordPress.com to org is simple since WordPress offers importing and exporting of posts, but if you feel this is difficult task, WordPress has now announced Guided transfers at $99.
This is a one time fee and includes the following;
- Install the WordPress software at the recommended host of your choice.
- Transfer over your entire WordPress.com site.
- Install and configure Jetpack and a few other plugins to provide features that you have been using on WordPress.com.
- Configure and test permissions so that you’ll be able to have one-click installs and upgrades.
- Switch your domain(s) over.
- Provide full support for you on your new WordPress installation for a two week period.
Currently the transfers are available for the following recommended hosting (like Bluehost, Dreamhost, GoDaddy etc).
