Windows 8, the next release of OS from Microsoft is expected to have new features and lots of improvements. We have recently written about how file management has changed in Windows 8, when compared to Windows 7. Now Microsoft has released more information on Window Explorer in the upcoming version. One of the major changes is the ribbon UI which is featured in Office 2010 and this ribbon UI comes with lots of tools which were hidden in Windows 7.
The file menu also has undergone changes and it looks similar to Office UI.
The ribbon UI for other tasks like picture viewer, documents, disk tools etc.
Main benefits of this new interface;
- Exposes hidden features that they already use but which require third party add-ons to use in the Explorer UI today.
- Provides keyboard shortcuts for every command in the ribbon, something many people have been asking for.
- Provides UI customization with the quick access toolbar, taking us back to a customization level that is basically equivalent to Windows XP.
More details on this available on the Windows 8 Engineering blog.
Microsoft will fail in Windows 8 just like it happened in Vista.
