Microsoft has showcased the latest version of Windows at the BUILD conference. Apart from this, the developer preview version of Windows 8 was also made available to public. Windows 8 has many new features and one of the major change is the start screen along with the new Windows Explorer and Metro UI. Here are some of the new features of Windows 8, this list isnt complete, but we will review more features in the coming days.
1. New Start Screen:
The start screen is completely new sporting Metro UI along with options to pin apps and settings. You can also rearrange apps on the start screen by drag and drop.
2. Windows Explorer:
The Windows Explorer is again one of the most important changes as it comes with the ribbon UI. Ribbon UI had become popular ever since the release of Office 2010. The ribbon UI of Explorer has all the functions and features which were either hidden or missing in Windows 7.

When you hover the mouse on the start button corner, you get the options for settings, devices, search and sharing.
The settings will provide you with quick access to notifications, power etc.
The search allows you to search apps and files and also Windows settings. When you click on the network icon in the system tray you get a new window showing the available networks.
When you insert a removable drive, the action to be performed has a new window although the options available are same.
5: Task Manager:
Windows task manager is another big improvement over the previous version. The task manager in Windows 8 is very much detailed and also includes option to check the app history and also start up items. We will be covering these new features in detail in the coming days, stay tuned!
