Microsoft has been updating the Windows 7 themes gallery with new themes based on festivals and other occasions. Three new themes, Ghost Town, Dark Skies and Masquerade has been adding to the personalization gallery.
Ghost Town theme has weathered, abandoned buildings leaning in the relentless western sun. It’s the famed ghost town of Bodie, California, as captured in rich sepia tones by photographer Tracy Hymas in this free Windows 7 theme.
Dark Skies theme gets into twisting tree limbs are silhouetted against billowing clouds, fences stretch to dark horizons, and flocks of birds burst forth across the sky, seeming to portend doom. If you prefer dark backgrounds, this is a perfect theme to download.
Masquerade theme brings in a note of joy, mystery, and aristocratic decadence to your desktop, evoking Mardi Gras and the great Carnivals in Rio de Janeiro and Venice, the masks in this theme are elaborately festooned with feathers, bells, and glitter.
I have not tried any of these themes. For me the one with the white background does the trick.
