Windows 8 is one of the most anticipated releases from Microsoft as it is one of the major changes in Windows OS. Currently Windows 8 is in Release Preview version and at the Microsoft’s annual Worldwide Partner Conference, Windows Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Financial Officer Tami Reller announced that the general availability (GA) of Windows 8 will be in October. Meanwhile Windows 8 will RTM in the first week of August.
For enterprise customers with Software Assurance benefits, they will have full access to Windows 8 bits as early as August. She also mentioned that Windows 8 store will be turning to commerce platform, so that app purchases can be done, as all the apps are currently free of cost.
Windows 8 and Windows RT PCs will be available to buy and upgrades will be available starting in October. She also mentioned that that Windows 8 will be available in 109 languages across 231 markets worldwide.
Apart from this, she also mentioned that 630 million Windows 7 licenses have been sold to date.
