DuckDuckGo is an Internet search engine. It uses information from crowd sourced websites such as Wikipedia to augment traditional results and improve relevance. The search engine policy emphasizes privacy and does not record user information. Because users are not profiled, all users are shown the same search results for a given search term.
DuckDuckGo has now released an app for Windows 8 which allows you to search from Windows 8 tablets and laptops. This app does not track your searches or IP address. When you open the app, it shows the latest news, the sources of these news can be configured from the settings in the Charms bar.
The search box available has quite a lot of features, first is that it provides suggestions like any other search engine, secondly it auto-suggests any phone apps when searching and thirdly it allows you to access all your recent searches.
Overall, DuckDuckgo app does a decent job with its clean interface and options. The links open with the default web browser on your Windows 8.
