Microsoft had announced the Surface tablets running Windows 8 last year in two variants, one the Surface RT version which came out in October and second is Surface Pro, which was released in February 2013. Although Surface RT couldn’t manage tremendous sales, Surface Pro was able to get some attention as it was a full fledged Windows tablet + ultrabook.
With Surface Pro releasing in more countries, Microsoft aims to capture more sales for this product. But in the meantime, a new Kickstarter project has started and its an useful case for Surface Pro. ProKASE is a protective case for the Microsoft Surface Pro with more memory capacity and additional USB ports in a single sleek enclosure. ProKASE will add extra storage option in the form of 2 microSD cards and provide user with additional USB slots.
You can use ProKASE as a stand as well and use Surface Pro at different angles. You can communicate between the Microsoft Surface Pro and the ProKASE seamlessly with the custom short USB cable that comes with the ProKASE. It plugs into the single USB port on the Surface Pro and the mini USB port found on the ProKASE. The frame houses (2) USB ports and (2) microSD/SD card readers.
The cover is made from luxurious soft leather or suede. The standard ProKASE comes with a black leather or grey suede cover. For a limited run it will be offered in a red or blue suede cover to match the blue or red touch cover. The ProKASE can also be used with or without a touch or type cover.
So, Surface Pro users, what do you think of this case? Useful? If you feel this is useful, you can think of backing the project. They aim to deliver the cases in July 2013 if successfully funded. You can back the project here.
