We all move around with our smartphones in the pocket, but imagine a situation where you just got drenched because of a sudden rain and you did not have an way to protect your expensive high end phone? Or even worse could be the situation where your kid just threw your phone into the swimming pool? In most cases you might be able to get it dry or repair it, but you will not be able to experience the best performance as water can cause internal damage to your phone.
But off late, we have seen quite a lot of phones being released which are waterproof along with dust resistance. This means even if your phone gets drenched in water or accidently fell into a pool, you don’t have to worry as it will not damage the phone. So if you work in an environment where water spilling can be an issue, then you should be thinking of getting a phone which is waterproof.

Smartphones:
1. HTC Butterfly:
HTC Butterfly is a high end Android phablet with 5.0 inch full HD screen and runs on Qualcomm S4 1.5GHz, Quad-Core processor. It has IPX-5 rated water protection.
2. Sony Xperia Z:
Xperia Z is a recently announced phone from Sony which features a 1.5GHz quad-core S4 Pro processor, a 13-megapixel camera, and a vivid 5-inch screen. Xperia Z has high IP55 & IP57 rating which means you can keep the phone under water for almost 30 minutes and it will come as good as it was before.
3. Sony Xperia Go
Xperia Go is a low end Android phone with 3.5 inch screen and runs on 1Ghz dual core processor. The device is IP67 certified – dust and water proof (up to 1m for 30 mins). It was announced last year with Android Gingerbread, upgradable to ICS.
4. Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2:
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 is a recently announced phone which is IP67 certified – dust tight and water proof (up to 1m for 30 mins). It features a 4.0 inch screen with Android Jelly bean. It runs on a Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor.
5. Huawei Ascend D2:
Ascend D2 is yet another recently announced phone which is dust and water resistant. It features a 5.0 inch touchscreen with Quad-core 1.5 GHz processor and runs on Android Jelly Bean. It was made available in March 2013.
6. Kyocera Hydro:
Hydro is a 3.5 inch phone which is IPX5, IPX7 and IP67 certified – dust tight and water proof (up to 1m for 30 mins). It runs on Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon with Android ICS. This is a CDMA phone which is available only in selected countries.
Tablets:
7. Pantech Element:
Pantech Element is a 8.0 inch tablet running on Android. This tablet isn’t afraid to get a little wet. While you can’t take it scuba diving, the Element does feature a waterproof design that allows it to be submerged in 1 meter of water for up to a half hour. It is not designed to be used under water.
8. Xperia Tablet Z:
Xperia Tablet Z features a 10.1” Full HD 1920x1200p Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. It runs on a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 1.5 GHz asynchronous quad-core CPU and 2 GB RAM.
