Tablet segment seems to be getting more and more competitive with 7” and 8” tablets getting released off late. After the iPad Mini release, we have seen Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 from Samsung and also HP Slate 7 and Asus Fonepad. Today Acer has announced a new tablet running Android, the Iconia A1.
Acer Iconia A1 is an Android tablet with 7.9” screen, IPS display (1024 X 768 pixels) and 162ppi. Although Iconia A1 is an Android tablet, as it is an 8inch tablet, its direct competitor would be iPad Mini and it is almost similar in specs when compared to the iPad mini. Iconia A1 comes in two variants, one is the Wi-Fi and second has Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.
Iconia A1 base model is priced at $169 which is very good pricing for a 8 inch tablet running the latest Android. The devices will be available in May/June 2013.
