Months back Govt of India had made the application for new Passports online, so that any user who wish to apply for new passport or review their passport can apply for it online. Once you apply, you will get the date of appointment and you will need to be present in the Passport Seva Kendra for verification. Now, Ministry of External affairs, Govt of India is making this process more simpler by launching this facility on your smartphones. Few months back they had released mPassport Seva App, an Android app which can track the status of your passport application and also get more details on the process.
Now they are extending this facility to apply for new passports using your smartphone. This facility will be available soon and applicants can submit their application from Android phone.
This is one of the largest projects of the Government of India under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) being executed in public-private-partnership mode with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as the private partner. The project is already operational and servicing citizens through 77 Passport Seva Kendras across India.
MEA with a view to provide mobile enablement of public services, has launched a Mobile Application ‘mPassport Seva’ to offer a wide variety of services to smartphone users such as Passport application status tracking, locating the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) and general information on various steps involved in obtaining a Passport.
The feature to apply for new passport will be available in the coming months. In case you use and Android phone, you can install this app and get to know about the passport application process and also track your current application status.
