Google shutdown their web based RSS reader on July 1st and there were quite a lot of apps for all platforms which were using Google Reader API. While most of these closed down, a handful of these apps moved to Feedly. Feedly announced the availability of Feedly cloud, a cloud based system where you can add your RSS subscription and read them on your smartphones or desktop (through browser). We had covered some of the best RSS readers for Windows 8 and we listed only those app which promised that they will continue to work even after Google Reader was closed. The first app to enable support for Feedly was NextGen Reader.
Now we have another good app, Readly for Windows 8 which comes with support for Feedly. If you want to catch up with all your subscription on Windows 8, Readly is a good choice.
Readly has a modern UI (or metro UI) looks which is image rich and also easy to read. There are quite a lot of formatting options like reading mode, themes, font size, style, margins, alignments etc. You can select these for any article you read. The background worker process makes sure that the articles are delivered to your instantly.
In the share options, the app has the ability to share to Pocket, Instapaper, etc. which is pretty useful.
It also comes with multiple live tile support and portrait mode with vertical scrolling, snapped mode. There is also support for keyboard shortcuts to keep you productive.
Readly is a good app to catch up with all the feeds on your Windows 8 tablet or laptop. The app is priced at $2.99 and totally worth the money. There is also a free trial in case you want to test it out before buying.
