Firefox has released the Windows 8 version of its browser in Aurora channel which is the pre-beta stage of the development. The browser is now available for download for Windows 8. Aurora is available for Windows 8 and 8.1, but not available for RT. If you are using Windows 8.1 and you don’t have an Aurora tile on the start screen at all, visit the All Apps screen to find it. From there you can pin it to your start screen. The browser brings the metro UI to Windows 8 with quite a lot of features.
If you want to try out the metro version of Firefox for Windows 8, you need to make it the default browser on your Windows 8. Once this is done, you can open the browser from the start screen and it opens in metro UI.
The Windows 8 version comes with the following features.
- Firefox Sync
- Windows 8 touch and swipe gestures
- Visual Navigation
- Windows Share Integration
Aurora preview includes a wonderful touch-friendly, tile-based, Firefox Start and Awesomebar experience all delivered to you through a simple but powerful interface that’s streamlined, modern, and beautiful. The new Windows 8 mode version of Aurora does not share bookmarks, history and passwords with the desktop version out of the box. But you can use Firefox Sync to make that happen.
