Although there is a Spotify app for Windows, it is a desktop app and not a metro UI app available in the Windows Store. For this reason, the app is not supported on Windows RT tablets and these users will not be able to get the Spotify experience. But now we have a third party app which allows Windows 8 and Windows RT users to get the Spotify experience.
Spotlite is a free Spotify client which is supported on Windows 8 and supports x86, x86-64, and ARM processors. Spotlite allows Spotify Premium and Unlimited users to listen to Spotify Music Service. Spotlite is not the official offering from Spotify but a third party client created by a Spotify fan for Spotify users using Windows 8 or 8.1.
The app provides quite a lot of features from the official Spotify service. But due to Spotify License Agreements only Spotify Premium and Unlimited accounts are supported.
Features
- Listen to songs in Spotify
- Play playlists in Spotify
- Search for songs, albums, artists and playlists
- Personalized recommendations of artists, songs and albums
- Create and add new tracks to playlists
The app is available as a free download, but you will need a premium Spotify account to use it. You can download it from the link below.
