VLC media player (commonly known as VLC) is a portable, free and open-source, cross-platform media player and streaming media server written by the VideoLAN project. The player is one of the best media players for Windows because of its extensive support for media extensions and it can play almost all formats. VLC has now released the beta version of their media player for Windows 8.
