Last month Microsoft had announced that Windows 8.1 will be coming to devices with less than 9 inches with 1GB of memory and 16GB of storage and users will have the experience of Windows 8.1 to small screen and also low cost devices. The company also announced that Windows will be available for free to hardware partners for Windows Phones and tablets smaller than 9-inches in screen size.
Today, Microsoft has now announced Windows 8.1 with Bing, a new edition which will be featured on low cost devices. this will be a step forward in bringing Windows 8.1 to lower price points in the tablet segment where it will compete with iPad and other Android tablets. As of now most of the Windows 8.1 tablets are priced higher.
This new version will provides all the same great experiences that Windows 8.1 offers with the Windows 8.1 Update, and comes with Bing as the default search engine within Internet Explorer. Customers will obviously be able to change that setting through the Internet Explorer menu, providing them with control over search engine settings. This new edition will be only be available preloaded on devices from our hardware partners.
Some of these devices, in particular tablets, will also come with Office or a one-year subscription to Office 365.
As per Microsoft these new devices will be available soon in the market, we expect more vendors to come up with the low end Windows 8.1 tablets in the coming quarters.
