Xiaomi, one of the leading mobile Internet companies in China, had announced its foray into the Indian market few days back with a range phones including the flagship Mi3. The company had also announced Redmi Note and Redmi 1S which will go on sale in the coming weeks. The Mi3 comes with impressive specs for a flagship device and has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 441 PPI resolution with Corning Gorilla glass protection and is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM 8974AB) processor. There is 2GB RAM and also 16GB internal storage available on the device.
Mi3 also comes with 13MP camera with LED flash and full HD recording. There is also 2MP front facing camera on the device. The device runs on MIUI V5 which is a custom ROM on top of Android 4.4 KitKat. The device is priced at INR13999 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart. Here is the unboxing video of Xiaomi Mi3:
The box packing contains the device, warranty information, MIUI manuals, standard adaptor for charging and also USB cable. There is no earphones included in the box which is kind of surprising on a flagship device, but considering the price at which it is being offered, it should not really matter.
The 5 inch display on the device is vibrant and the colors are also good. The device has a metallic finish at the back, but actually made of plastics. For the 5 inch phone, the device feels surprisingly lighter. The build quality of the device is top notch and you don’t really find any issues in the design, fit and finish.
The back panel (non removable) houses the 13MP camera and dual LED flash.
The right side has the power and the volume keys which is kind of standard on all smartphones.
The bottom houses the micro USB slot and the speakers.
The top panel has the 3.5mm audio jack and the SIM tray. The SIM card on the device is normal SIM (or Mini SIM) which is pretty surprising considering almost all of flagship devices have moved to micro or nano SIM card.
Above the display you have the MI branding along with front facing camera and the earpiece.
Below the display sits the three capacitive touch buttons.
The strong point of the device is the UI, which is called MIUI and it runs version 5.0. The heavily customized ROM offers tons of features which you wouldn’t find on stock Android.
You can add download themes and install them from the Xiaomi store. The phone offers lots of features under the hood and we will explain when we review the device.
Overall, the first impressions of the device is really awesome, we will post the detailed review in the coming week, so stay tuned!
Just a small query. Is removing that back sticker voids warranty ( I read it some where)
There is a message on that sticker to keep it intact, not really sure whether it will void warranty.
