At the BUILD Conference early this year, Microsoft had announced new OEM partners for Windows Phone and there were quite a few from India including Micromax, XOLO and Karbonn. Micromax announced its first Windows Phone device, the Canvas Win W121 back in June with impressive specs. The device was delayed for some reasons and now it is available for purchase.
The phone comes with 5 inch HD display (1280 X 720P) and is powered by a 1.2Ghz Quad Core Snapdragon 200 CPU and has 1GB RAM. There is also 8GB internal storage along with support for microSD card. The device runs latest Windows Phone 8.1 and also features a 8MP rear camera and a 2.0MP front camera.
The official pricing of the device was Rs 9999, but now its available for Rs 9400. Here is the unboxing of the device along with the first impressions.
Here is the unboxing video.
The box packing includes the phone, earphones, USB cable, charger, battery, warranty, manuals and also a screen guard. The build quality of earphones is pretty good and does not look like cheap quality ones generally bundled with budget devices.
The device feels good in hands thanks to the slim profile. On the hardware front, it has power button on the right side and volume keys on the left side.
There is chrome finish around the bezel giving it a premium feel.
The back panel has a leather finish and looks good. It houses the 8MP camera with flash and also the Micromax logo. The leather finish also comes with a stitching around the back panel.
The speakers are placed at the bottom of the back panel. Removing the back panel, you can see the dual SIM cards, both the slots being of normal SIM cards. There is also the microSD card near to it. The 2000mAh battery is removable.
The display on the device is 5 inch HD and is really good. The display is pretty sharp and the viewing angles are also good.
Below the display you have the three capacitive touch buttons for back, search and also the Windows key and they are backlit.
While the display is good, the touch response is not really great. While most of the Micromax phones have decent touch response, we are not really sure why it is not smooth on Canvas Win W121.
Overall, the device feels solid in hands, thanks to the slim profile and good build quality. We will have detailed review on this device soon, stay tuned and don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.
