Early this year at the BUILD conference, Microsoft did mention about the changes coming to Windows 8 start menu which would go in for a new design. The technical preview of the new version of Windows, which is expected to be called Windows 9 is expected to be released on September 30th and we now have leaked screenshots of the new version of Windows.
ComputerBase.de website has published several screenshots to what it claims is from the build 9834 of Windows 9. According to the leak screenshots, Microsoft does not mention Windows 9, but calls the operating system “Windows Technical Preview”. Although the screenshots are real, we need to wait and see if it will be called Windows 9.
From the screenshots, the design looks more flatter and matches the metro style. There are many changes in the start menu, you can see that the tiles are available in the start along with normal options. The power button is on the top of the start menu and there is also the search box. There is also a notification center with an icon similar to what we see on Windows Phone.
Microsoft is expected to release a technical preview in September 30th during an special event. We expect it will be available for download for general public. As of now few OEM partners have the build and are currently testing it.
