Last month Samsung had announced its mid range selfie focused smartphone, the Galaxy Grand Prime. The phone comes with a 5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) display with a pixel density of 220. The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Processor. The phone runs Android KitKat 4.4.4 with custom UI from Samsung. It also has Dual SIM support and a 8-megapixel rear camera.
The biggest feature of the device is that it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 85 degree wide-angle lens for selfies. Today, we see lots of OEMs are into selfie smartphones and Samsung has also entered this race. The phone also comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which is expandable to 64GB via MicroSD card.
Here is the unboxing of the device along with first impressions.
Here is the unboxing video of the device.
Inside the box you have the device along with USB cable, travel adaptor, earphones and the manuals.
The phone has a 5 inch qHD display, even though the resolution is not upto the mark of competition like Lumia 730, Moto G and Zenfone 5, it does look vibrant and the brightness levels are good.
Design wise, Grand Prime has nothing new to offer, it’s the same Samsung design we have seen on lots of devices. The front panel has the three buttons below the display for home, back and multi tasking. Above the display, you have the 5MP wide angle camera, the ear piece and the sensors. On the right side, you have the power key while the volume keys are on the left side.
The rear panel houses the 8MP camera along with flash and speaker. The 3.5mm audio jack houses the top position while the micro USB charging slot is at the bottom. The build quality of the device is pretty decent although not really the best.
The phone comes with 8GB internal storage, out of which 5GB is available to the user in the first boot. The interface of the device is pretty fast and the touch response was amazing. The camera interface is also feature rich and does have good set of options and shooting modes. We will have detailed review of the camera on our YouTube channel, so stay tuned.
