ASUS announced the Zenfone series phones back in July in India and we had reviewed the Zenfone 4 (review), Zenfone 4 A450CG (Review) and also the Zenfone 5 (review). Zenfone 6 is a phablet in the mid range category and comes with a 6 inch HD display with 720p resolution and runs on Intel Atom Dual Core processor at 2GHz. The phone comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.
The phone also comes with 13MP rear camera with LED flash and front facing 2MP camera. The Zenfone 6 was released with Android 4.3 along with custom UI called Zen UI, but the company has already released the Android KitKat update and the phone will probably get the Lollipop update in April 2015. So here is the unboxing of the device along with the first impressions.
Here is the unboxing video of the device.
Inside the box you have:
- Zenfone 6
- USB Cable
- Earphones
- Travel Charger
- Manuals/ Warranty
- Extra 2 pair of ear phone buds.
Since the device is 6 inch in display size, it is pretty huge. Design wise, it employs the same elements as that of Zenfone 4 and 5. The front panel has the 6 inch HD display which is an IPS LCD panel and has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.Below the display there is the three capacitive touch buttons and a beautiful pattern below it.
The power and volume keys are located on the right side. The 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top and micro USB charging slot is at the bottom along with the mic.
The rear panel has a curved finish and has the 13MP camera with LED flash and ASUS branding. The speaker unit is at the bottom, there is also Intel and Zenfone branding above the speakers. The overall build quality of the device is really superior and even though it is a 6 inch device, it is pretty good in hands.
Using the device with one hand might not be possible unless you have very big hands.
The 6 inch HD display looks really good and the colors look great. The touch response of the display is also good. The Zen UI, which we have already covered in our reviews, is once again brilliant on the phone.
The phone has 16GB internal storage and it comes with 12GB of usable storage in the first boot, close to 4GB is reserved for system use.
We will have detailed review of the device coming up along with gaming, camera review and benchmarks on our YouTube channel, so stay tuned.
