Android 5.0 “Lollipop” is the latest version of the Android by Google. Unveiled on June 25, 2014 during Google I/O, it became available as official over-the-air (OTA) updates this month for select devices, including Nexus and Google Play edition devices. Its source code was made available on November 3, 2014.
One of the main changes with respect to Lollipop is the design and Google calls it the material design and it comes with completely new icons and look and feel with animations. There is also new refreshed notification center and also lock screen. As of now not all devices have Android Lollipop and many of these devices might never get this latest version.
