Top 10 Slimmest Phones in the World

Smartphones have come a long way in terms of innovation in the past couple of years. Today, smartphones come with great hardware, excellent camera and overall better experience bringing in features like heart rate sensors, touch ID etc. One of the areas where there hasn’t been great innovation is the design. Although there has been some good designs, overall most of the smartphones look similar. At the same time there has been some great devices which have cut down in the thickness and claims to be the slimmest or thinnest available.

So here we take a look at some of the slimmest smartphones available today. We have skipped some older smartphones which are now more than a year old.

Oppo R5 (4.85mm)

The R5 is currently the slimmest phone in the world at 4.85mm beating Gionee Elife S5.1 which was just announced in India. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p AMOLED screen, powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 GPU and runs on Color OS 2.0 based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has liquid metal material filled in between the chip and graphite to reduce the heat and has stainless steel body and has micro-arc frame that is hand polished.

2.Gionee Elife S5.1 (5.1mm)

The phone comes with a 4.8-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and screen-to-body ratio of 74% since it has a narrow frame of just 1.8mm. The phone is the successor to Elife S5.5 which was released early this year. The back cover is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and runs on Android 4.4 with Amigo 2.0 UI on top. The phone features 8MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies. It comes with 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

3. Allview X2 Soul Mini

The 4,8″ Amoled display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 306 ppi. The device is powered by 1.7 GHz Octa Core processor, a Mali 450 graphic solution paired with 1 GB of RAM. On the camera end it features 8 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera.Its weight of only 97 grams and its reduced thickness  is only 5,15 mm.It comes with 16 GB internal storage and 2050 mAh battery. The phone is in fact re-branded Gionee Elife S5.1

4. Gionee Elife S5.5 (5.5mm)

Gionee Elife S5.5 packs 1.7 GHz quad core CPU with 2 GB. The display is 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. It runs on Gionee’s “Amigo” Android-based OS. Gionee Elife S5.5 will feature a 13 MP camera at the back along with a 5 MP front shooter. Gionee has managed to fit in a 2300 mAh battery on the device which should probably last a day.

5. Vivo X3 (5.75mm)

This also comes in the top with a thickness of 5.75 mm along with the 5 inches of IPS Display along with the powerful processor. It is powered by 1.5GHz A7 Processor with 1 GB RAM. The device runs e Android 4.2 and has 16GB of non-expandable storage and the 2,000mAh battery.

6. Oppo R3 (6.3mm)

The phone comes with a 5-inch ( 1280 x 720 pixels) display and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and runs on Android with Color OS on top. It is just 6.3mm thick and has magnesium alloy body. Oppo claims that this is the world’s thinnest 4G smartphone. The phone also has a 8-megapixel rear camera with 1/3.2-inch sensor ,1.4 micron pixels, and a large f/2.0 aperture and a new night shot feature that eliminates noise in low-light imaging with an LED flash.

7. Samsung Galaxy A5 (6.7mm)

The Galaxy A5 is just 6.7mm thick and are aimed at young and trend conscious consumers, says the company. The Galaxy A5 comes with a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display and is powered by 1.2GHz Quad-Core Processor with 2GB RAM. The phone has LTE support and run Android 4.4 (KitKat). The Galaxy A5 has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. It also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with wide-angle lens to capture better selfies.

8. Huawei Ascend P7 (6.5mm)

Huawei Ascend P7, the company’s flagship smartphone sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD IPS touch-sensitive display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by 1.8 GHz quad-core Huawei Kirin 910T processor with Mali-450 MP4 GPU and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Emotion UI 2.3.On the camera end it features 13MP camera with Sony BSI sensorand 8MP front-facing camera with 5P non-spherical lens. It also comes with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB internal memory. It packs 2500 mAh battery.

9. Samsung Galaxy Alpha (6.7mm)

The device comes with a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED display as well as an advanced camera and real time HDR for an unrivaled viewing and photo experience. It also features a sophisticated design in a carefully constructed compact body with a metal frame and a solid finish, while still maintaining the flagship Galaxy experience. The device runs on Octa core processor with 2GB RAM and also features 12MP (rear) and a 2.1MP (front) camera.

10. Apple iPhone 6 (6.9mm)

The Apple iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch display with sapphire crystal glass protection. It is powered by a Apple A8 64-bit processor and 1GB RAM. The iPhone 6 sports an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 1.2MP front camera. The phone has 16GB of non-expandable internal storage. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, 3G (HSPA+ 42.2Mbps), 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The iPhone 6 comes with a non-removable Li-Po 1810mAh battery. It runs on the iOS 8 operating system.
