Early this year Microsoft announced new OEM partners for Windows Phone and there were quite a lot of them from India including Micromax, Karbonn, Lava and also XOLO. Lava has now launched their first Windows Phone, the Iris Win1 and this is a budget device with 4 inch WVGA display and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM. The phone also has 8GB internal storage which is expandable via micro SD card to 32GB.
The phone also comes with 5MP rear camera with LED flash and VGA front facing camera. The phone runs Windows Phone 8.1 which is the latest from Microsoft. The device is priced Rs 4999 and is one of the cheapest Windows Phones available right now. Here is the unboxing of the Lava Iris Win1 and also the first impressions of the device.
Here is the unboxing video.
Inside the box:
- Lava Iris Win1
- Earphone
- Power Adaptor
- USB Cable
- Flip cover
- Screen guard
- Manual
Design wise the device looks pretty good and has capacitvie touch buttons instead of the on screen buttons found on Lumia phones. The device has power button on the right side while the volume key is on the left side. The 3.5mm audio jack and the micro USB charging slots are at the top. The rear panel has a matte finish and looks pretty good.
The 5MP camera along with flash and the speakers along with Lava logo sits on the rear panel. Overall, the build quality fit and finish looks good for a budget smartphone.
The display on the device is a 4 inch WVGA (800 X 480) and even though the resolution is low it does look pretty good and colors look vibrant. We can easily saw it is better than the Lumia 530 in terms of color quality. The touch response is also good. Above the display you have the front camera and the sensors which includes Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, proximity sensor.
The device comes with 8GB internal storage out of which 4.5GB is available to the user in the first boot which is pretty good. The phone has support for dual SIM and microSD cards. Both the SIM card slots are normal SIM. The earphones included in the box is also good quality in terms of build.
Overall, we were pretty impressed with what Lava has offered in their first Windows phone. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
