Vivo just announced their entry into Indian market with the X5Max launch which is also the slimmest smartphone in the world. The device features a 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED screen. The device is powered by an Octa-Core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor ( Quad core 1.7GHz Cortex-A53 and quad core 1GHz Cortex-A53) with Adreno 405 GPU.
The phone runs on Funtouch OS 2.0, custom ROM based on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. We had a chance to test the device at the launch event in Delhi and here is our hands on with Vivo X5Max.
Vivo has done a great job in packing such an impressive specs in the 4.75mm thin body. The device has a slim aluminium frame which houses the vibrant 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display and a 5MP front camera. The rear panel has the 13MP camera with a bulge that increases the thickness of the device by around 2mm. The camera is really good and we were quite impressed with the low light photography. The phone does feel light and easy to hold as well.
Unlike the Oppo R5 which was the slimmest device before launch of X5Max, the Vivo X5Max comes with a proper 3.5mm audio jack and here there is lot of emphasis on audio performance. The phone also comes with dedicated audio chip Yamaha YSS-205X signal processor, Sabre ES9018K2M DAC.
Another impressive feature of the device is that it comes with a unique dual SIM mechanism and the second SIM card slot doubles up as a microSD slot when you don’t want to use. So you can always expand the 16GB storage if you can compromise on dual SIM. X5Max is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip that’s both octa-core (quad 1.7GHz Cortex-A53 and quad 1GHz Cortex-A53) and coupled with 2GB RAM. Overall, the performance of the device with the Android 4.4 KitKat and custom Fun Touch OS 2.0 looks good.
The FunTouch OS has lot of similarities with iOS8 and the quick toggles can be pulled out by swiping from the bottom. The UI is vibrant and colorful and has good amount of features like the MIUI. There is smart gestures, double tap to wake, you can draw a pattern to directly open an app from the display and more.
We will have more details on the device including the detailed review.
