Few days back Micromax had announced a new mid range phone, the Canvas Hue. The phone comes with a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) AMOLED HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM. The phone runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat), which is upgradable to Android 5.0 (Lollipop) which is an interesting aspect of the device. The phone has 8GB internal storage and it is expandable to 32GB via SD card.
On the imaging front, it features a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone also supports dual SIM card and has 3G support. We have the device with us and here is the unboxing of the device along with first impressions.
Here is the unboxing video:
Inside the box:
- Micromax Canvas Hue
- USB Cable
- Earphone
- Power Adaptor
- Warranty and Manuals
- Screen Protector
The first impression you get when you see the device for the first time is that it looks a lot like iPhone. The design is pretty good and feels sold in hands although the weight is slightly on the higher side. Design wise, the power and volume keys are on the right side, the 3.5mm audio jack on the top and micro USB charging slot at the bottom.
The rear panel has a glossy finish, but overall looks good. It has the 8MP camera with LED flash and the speakers located a the bottom. There is gold finish around the sides of the device to give a premium feel.
The display on the device is a 5 inch HD AMOLED panel (1280 X 720P) and has a pixel density of 293ppi. The display looks vibrant and colorful and the touch response feels good.
The build quality and fit and finish on the device looks pretty good and the one we have is white and gold color. The device is powered by a 1.3Ghz Quad Core Mediatek processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The device has Android 4.4 KitKat and is upgradable to Lollipop according to Micromax. The UI looks a bit different from the regular phones from Micromax as there is no app drawer instead it comes in multiple home screens. It also supports themes to customize.
The camera on the device is a 8MP shooter with LED flash and again the camera interface has changed. The phone has 5.21GB in the first boot which is expandable via micro SD card. The phone also comes with 3000mAh non-removable battery with Super Power saver mode.
Overall, we were pretty impressed with the design and quality of the device. We will have more on the phone including the detailed review meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
