Motorola has started the roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Moto G, both the first generation (2013) and Second generation (2014) devices. Motorola had already confirmed that Moto G and Moto E will get this update. The roll out has started in India for Moto G (2013 and 2014) and in case you have the devices, the OTA update should be available.
Motorola is one of the few OEMs which releases updates in timely manner and Moto G has been one of the best selling devices for the company (both generations). The roll out has started in phases, so expect the update to be available in couple of days in case you don’t see it now.
The new update is around 378MB in size (for Moto G 2014). The three main features in the update include:
- Android 5.0 Lollipop update
- Material design with new UI
- New notification control, better battery and security
Here is a video on installing the update.
Complete list of new features for these devices can be found here- Moto G (2013) and Moto G (2014).
To update, go to Settings-> About Phone-> System updates and make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi network to download the updates.
