2014 saw a major change in the mobile industry in India. Previously, the entry level or the budget category was a segment where OEMs were not really focused and many of the smartphones which were launching had either poor hardware or out-dated software. But things have changed drastically in the second half of 2014 when ASUS and Xiaomi announced their budget phones with mid range specs and half the pricing.
Xiaomi continued their excellent pricing with Redmi Note as well. Meanwhile Micromax announced new brand Yu in partnership with Cyanogen and launched Yureka. Other Indian OEMs like XOLO also made an impact in budget segment with some great phones.
