After announcing Mi3, Redmi 1S and the Redmi Note (3G and 4G) in India, Xiaomi announced their latest flagship device, the Mi4 in India couple of weeks back. The Mi4 was announced officially last July in China and comes with a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with 441 PPI. The display is based one-glass solution (OGS) made by Sharp / JDI.
The device is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. The phone comes with 3GB RAM and has 16GB internal storage. It runs on MIUI version 6 on top of Android 4.4 (KitKat). On the imaging front, it has a 13MP rear camera with flash and a 8MP front-facing camera. Design wise, the device looks great and has a metallic frame with plastic rear cover. The sides of the device have the brushed metal finish. The power and volume keys are on the right side, while the SIM tray sits on the left side. The 3.5 mm audio jack along with IR blaster is on the top while the micro USB charging slot is a the bottom.
The rear panel has a glossy plastic finish with a pattern over it and houses the 13MP camera with LED flash and MI logo. Overall, the build quality of the device is superior. The front panel has the 5 inch Full HD IPS LCD display and the front camera and the usual set of sensors. The three backlit capacitive touch buttons are located at the bottom.
The 5inch Full HD display is vibrant and sharp and is a treat to use. The phone supports only single SIM card and there is also no micro SD expansion slot. There is also a 3080mAh non-removable battery inside the device.
The phone is powered by 2.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The user available storage is around 13.3GB and this is one of the downside of the device as you cannot increase the storage. The camera looks pretty impressive and is extremely fast and responsive.
