Gionee has had a great success in India in the first year of its launch and brought in some great devices like the Elife E7, Elife S5.5, S5.1 and more. Not only in the premium segment, Gionee also commands a good share in the budget category in the Pioneer and Marathon series. We recently reviewed the Marathon M3 and now we have the brand new budget smartphone, the Pioneer P6.
The phone comes with a 5 inch FWVGA display and is powered by 1.3Ghz Quad core processor with 1GB RAM. There is 8GB internal storage available which is expandable via micro SD card. On the imaging front, the device sports a 5MP rear camera with flash and a front 2MP camera with LED flash. The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat and here is the unboxing and the first impressions on the device.
Here is the unboxing video of the device.
Inside the box:
- Gionee Pioneer P6
- Battery
- 2 Screen guards
- Flip cover
- Manual/ Warranty
- Unique kick stand for watching movies
- Earphone
- USB Cable
- Power Adaptor
Design wise, the device has curved edges and has pretty decent quality. The power and volume buttons are located on the right side. The top houses the 3.5mm audio jack and the micro USB charger is at the bottom. The rear panel has a unique glossy finish with a pattern and houses the 5MP rear camera with flash. The front panel has the 5 inch FWVGA display, usual set of sensors, front camera and also a LED flash for the front camera.
The three capacitive buttons at the bottom are not backlit.
The 5 inch display has a low resolution of FWVGA (854 X 480P) and it is clearly evident from the display. It looks a bit dull and also appears pixelated. The viewing angles aren’t really great and the color changes when you tilt the display. The phone support dual SIM card and also micro SD card which can be inserted by opening the rear panel.
The phone also comes with 1950mAh battery.
The phone is powered by 1.3Ghz Quad core processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The UI looks slightly different from the one we saw on Gionee Marathon M3 and the performance looks much better than M3. We didn’t encounter any lag in the first use. There is 5.11GB of storage available in the first boot.
The camera interface is exactly the same as we found on Marathon M3. The addition of front flash should be useful for selfies.
As of now the official pricing of the device is not mentioned, but we expect it to be close to Rs 8000. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
