Last week Lava announced their flagship phone, the Iris X8 to compete with Yu Yureka and Xiaomi Redmi Note. But unlike the flash sales model adopted by Yu and Xiaomi, Lava Iris X8 is available both offline and online. The phone features a 5 inch HD display (720p) and is powered by 1.4 GHz Octa core processor from MediaTek. The device has 2GB RAM and also comes with 16GB internal storage. The phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat and is upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
On the imaging front, the phone has 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash and 3MP front facing camera. There are couple of things interesting about the device, first being the availability of 2GB RAM and second is 16GB storage in the budget segment, very similar to Yureka. Here is the unboxing and first impressions on the device.
Here is the unboxing video of the phone.
Inside the box:
- Lava Iris X8
- Warranty
- Screen guard
- USB Cable
- Charger
- Earphone
Design wise, the device looks very similar to the X series phone launched by the company which includes X1, X5, X1 Grand. The device has a silver finish all round the phone which does give it a premium feel. The power and volume buttons are on the right side, while the 3.5mm Audio jack and micro USB charging slot is on the top panel. The rear panel houses the 8MP camera with dual LED flash and the speakers located at the bottom. The overall build quality of the device is pretty good.
The front panel has the 5 inch HD IPS LCD display and the front camera and the usual set of sensors. The three backlit capacitive touch buttons are located at the bottom.
The 5 inch HD IPS display has ASAHI Glass protection to keep your screen scratch free. The display looks pretty good and the brightness levels were decent. The touch response was also fairly decent. The phone has dual SIM card support and also microSD for expanding the storage. There is also 2500mAh battery included which is removable.
The phone is powered by 1.4 GHz Octa core processor from MediaTek with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage (almost similar to Yureka, except for the processor). The user available storage is around 12.5GB and you can increase it with SD card. The camera is 8MP rear with dual LED and 3MP front camera. The camera interface is different from what we see on most Mediatek powered phones.
The phone is priced Rs 8999 and will be available on Flipkart. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
good phone ..value for money but unable to connect it to my macbook air…searched many sites but couldn’t find any pc suite for mac… any suggestion???
Generally all phones are plug and play, they are detected on all PCs without the need for any PC suite.
Is lava Iris X8 battery removable. Other than you all are saying this non-removable.
Can u come with exact fact.
It is clearly mentioned on the battery that it is non removable, not sure how others are saying it is removable.
