LG India has launched their new flagship phone the LG G Flex 2 in India today at the LG Tech show. The phone was first announced at the CES 2015 and the phone comes with 5.5 inch Full HD (1080P) P-OLED display and is powered by Snapdragon 810 processor. The Snapdragon 810 is a 64 bit processor with 2.0Ghz Octa core CPU. The smartphone has two different storage capacities (16 or 32GB), and includes either 2 or 3GB of RAM depending on availability and region just like the LG G3. Like some variants of the LG G3, the G Flex 2 has a microSD card slot that’s expandable up to 2TB.
On the camera front, the LG G Flex 2 sports a 13MP camera with laser auto focus just like the G3. There is also a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Unlike the first generation Flex series phone, the second generation has lot of improvements, it sports the best hardware and also a Full HD curved display unlike the HD (720P) on the G Flex. As the name indicates, it comes with a arched design which can be bend, a sharp 1080p display, the latest Snapdragon 810 processor and a scratch-resistant coating.
The phone comes with premium build quality and feels great to hold. The handset comes in platinum silver and flamenco red. Compared to its predecessor, the phone is smaller, thinner, and 15 percent lighter. The phone is designed to withstand a certain degree of abuse and you can bend the device and it comes back to original shape. The rear panel has a “self healing” technology which can prevent scratches and in case of any scratches, it can heal within seconds. Similar to other LG flagship phones, the device comes with power and volume button on the rear panel.
The display is one of the highlights of the device, noticeably sharper display with great colors. Images, videos and text are bright and rich in detail on the new 1080p display. The LG G Flex 2 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop and has LG’s custom UI on top of it. Apart from company’s KnockOn and KnockCode gestures, the G Flex 2 will also have GlanceView. GlanceView allows you to quickly check the time, date and any missed notifications, without having to wake up the handset and can be activated by a downward swipe from the top of the screen.
The phone also comes with 13MP rear camera which is pretty good in the initial testing. We couldn’t check out the detailed camera quality in various condition, but overall, the camera looks impressive. We will have more detailed review later. There is also 2.1MP front facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The device is priced Rs 55000 and will be available in retail stores pretty soon. We will have detailed review of the device later, so stay tuned.
