At an event today, Huawei has announced their new budget smartphone in the Honor series, the Honor 4X in India. The device will compete with Yu Yureka, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and other affordable budget phones. It comes with 5.5-Inch HD IPS display and is powered by 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 Quad Core Processor and runs Android 4.4 KitKat on top of Emotion UI 3.0. On the camera front, it features, 13MP Rear camera With LED flash and 5MP front-facing camera.
It comes with 2GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which is expandable upto 32 GB using microSD. The device supports Dual Micro SIM and packs 3000 mAh Battery. Here is the quick hands on with the device.
The Honor 4X comes in the phablet series with a 5.5 inch display and it is a device which is not really easy in hands. But Honor has managed with up minimum bezels around the display. The display is 720p HD with good colors and great viewing angles. The touch response was also pretty good on the device.
Design wise, there isn’t anything new with Honor 4X but it is a decent looking device at this price point and is made of plastics all round. It has a textured finish in the rear to give it some sort of grippy feel in the hand. The build quality is pretty decent for a device in this price. The power and volume buttons are on the right side and the 3.5m audio jack is placed on the top. The micro USB charging slot is at the bottom. The rear panel houses the 13MP camera with flash and has a tapered design.
The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with the company’s custom Emotion UI 3.0. The interface has a minimalistic approach, but the icons and overall look of EMUI 3.0 may not be everyone’s liking. There are themes to chose from and customize the phone. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 410 Quad Core processor with 2GB RAM and this is the same processor powering the Lenovo A6000 and Redmi 2. The initial testing showed the performance was pretty good and we didn’t experience any lags. We will have more on this in our detailed review of the device. The company has also promised Android Lolliopo 5.0 update for the device.
The phone comes with a rear 13MP camera and a front 5MP camera for selfies. Considering that Yureka and Redmi Note also offers 13MP camera in the price point, Honor 4X should offer some competition to both. The phone also comes with a 3000mAh battery which should be good enough for atleast 1.5 days of usage.
The Huawei Honor 4X is available in Black, White, Gold and is priced at Rs 10499.
We will have more on the device when we do the detailed review. So stay tuned for that.
