Lenovo launched their new budget devices, the A7000 in India few days back. The Lenovo A7000 comes with a 5.5 inch HD (1280 X720p) display and is powered by a 64 bit MediaTek MT6752m TruOcta Core processor clocked at 1.5Ghz. There is also 2GB RAM available on the phone. The device also comes with 8GB internal storage which is expandable via microSD card. This is also the first smartphone to feature Dolby Atmos for superior sound.
The device will compete with Yu Yureka, Redmi Note and also the Honor 4X in the sub 10k price category. We got a quick hands on with the Lenovo A7000 and here are our first impressions of the device.
Design wise, the device looks very similar to the smaller A6000 (Review). The A7000 is pretty slim compared to the competition and looks sleek as well. The build quality is really good with a matte finish rear panel. The device feels good in hands. The power and volume keys have chrome finish and are located on the right side. The 3.5mm audio jack is on the top while the micro USB charging slot is at the bottom.
The rear panel has the 8MP with dual LED flash, Lenovo logo and the speaker. Although the phone comes with Dolby Atmos, the speakers do not offer them and if you want to experience it you need to use the earphones. The front panel has the 5.5 inch HD display, front camera and the three capacitive buttons at the bottom. The buttons are sadly not backlit.
The display on the device looks pretty good with vibrant colors and the touch response was also pretty good. The viewing angles were also pretty decent.
While the competition is still on Android 4.4, A7000 offers Android 5.0 Lollipop with Lenovo’s custom Vibe UI with lots of new features. The notification center looks much better than A6000 and also the multi tasking was pretty smooth and we experienced no lags in our brief testing with the device. We will have more on this when we have the device for testing.
A7000 also sports a 2900mAh battery which is in par with the competition. The A7000 is just 7.99mm thin an weighs 140g which makes it one of the lightest budget phablets around. While all the other phablets in the sub 10k price point have 13MP camera, the Lenovo A7000 features only a 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.
Lenovo has mentioned that the camera interface has been improved from the A6000 and it now sports the camera UI of Vibe X2 and is more user friendly. The device is priced Rs 8999 and will be available on Flipkart starting April 15th.
