There are many ways to track your lost or stolen smartphones and we have covered some of the best options previously on this blog. Google had released the Android Device Manager couple of years back to track the lost of stolen Android phone. Now, the search giant has added a new feature where in you can just Google your phone with the three words- Find my phone.
With the new service, if you Google Find my phone, you get the exact location of the phone and also an option to ring the phone and spot it in case it is misplaced.
The two main requisites for this are, first you need to be logged in with the same ID you use on your Android smartphone and secondly you should have the latest version of Google app on your phone. This service will work only on Google.com and not other domains.
You get a map of the area along with option to select the phone (in case you are using multiple ones). There is also an option to ring the phone from the interface. Advanced features like wiping the data or reset will only work with Android Device Manager. Also the location service and spotting the phone will not work unless you have enabled location services on your device and it is connected to the internet.
While this feature is not really a ground breaking new option, the implementation is really good.
