Xiaomi has been teasing their latest phone launch on social media channels for quite some time now and this is their first global launch outside China. The company has today announced the latest smartphone, the Mi4i which comes with pretty good specs for its price. The device is a cheaper variant of the flagship device, the Mi4 which was launched early this year in India.
Spec wise, the Mi4i comes with the same 5.0 inch Full HD display at 1920 X 1080p and a fully lamination Corning Concore OGS display. The display has a pixel density of 441ppi and has a sunlight mode which increases the quality of display in sunlight. The device is powered by second generation Snapdragon 615 Octa core processor, instead of Snapdragon 801 on the Mi4. There is also 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage available on the device.
Mi4i comes with MIUI6 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop and this is the first Xiaomi device to ship with Lollipop. It also comes with a new feature called visual IVR. MIUI6 now supports Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
On the camera front, the phone comes with 13MP rear camera with dual LED (two tone) flash and f/2.0 aperture and front 5MP camera with 80 degree wide angle for selfies and video calls. To keep the costs down, the cheaper variant has plastic body unlike the metal and glass found on the original Mi4. The device is slim at 7.8mm and also light weight at 130 grams. It also comes with a soft touch matte finish with anti grease coating.
It also features a 3120mAh battery which should be good enough for more than a day of usage and comes with quick charging. Mi 4i will come in 5 colours: black, white, orange, light blue and pink.
The device comes with dual SIM cards and both the SIM cards support 4G LTE in India. The device also comes with Bluetooth 4.1, USB OTG, Wi-Fi direct and GLONASS.
