At the ASUS Zen Festival last week, the company had announced three new devices, the Zenfone 2 Deluxe, Zenfone Selfie and Zenfone 2 Laser. The Zenfone 2 Laser is a mid range device which comes in three variants and has the laser autofocus included. The phone has a 5.5 inch HD (1280 X 720p) display and is powered by Snapdragon 410 Quad core chipset with 2GB RAM.
There is also 16GB internal storage along with micro SD card support. On the imaging front, the phone features a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and laser auto focus and a front facing 5MP camera. The phone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and has custom Zen UI and features a 3000mAh battery.

Design wise the phone is similar to the Zenfone 2 which was launched earlier this year. The front panel has the three capacitive buttons and a pattern below it. There is 5.5 inch HD display, front camera and the usual set of sensors. The rear panel has gone in for a change with a black matte finish. The Zenfone 2 had a brushed metallic finish. But considering this is cheaper than Zenfone 2, the company has gone with a regular matte finish. The build quality looks solid, but the device has weight on the higher side. The power button has an awkward position on the top of the device. The volume key is located on the rear panel below the camera unit.
There is a 13MP rear camera, dual tone LED flash, laser auto focus and also the speaker unit located at the bottom. The 3.5mm audio jack is at the top while the micro USB charging slot is at the bottom.
The phone comes with a 5.5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 X 720p. The display looks pretty good and the touch response is also decent. The colors are vivid and overall it looks pretty sharp as well. There is also Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the phone. The phone comes with dual SIM card and has 4G support. The phone also comes with 16GB internal storage which is expandable via micro SD card. The storage available in the first boot is around 10.5GB. Unlike the Zenfone 2, the Zenfone 2 laser comes with a removable battery.
In the initial usage, the performance was good and there was no issues. It is powered by the 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 410 Quad Core 64 bit processor with 2GB of RAM. The software is Android 5.0 Lollipop with custom Zen UI which offers lots of features and customization options. The phone packs a 13MP camera with dual tone LED flash and the quality looks good. We will have detailed review of the camera soon.
The device is priced Rs 9999 and available on Flipkart. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
