At the event today, Apple has announced the new iPhones. Similar to last year iPhones which came in two variants, the new phones are iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The iPhone 6S comes with a 4.7 inch Retina display and the 6S Plus comes with 5.5 inch Retina display.
Similar to the iPad Pro, the new iPhones comes with A9X SoC which is 64 bit architecture which is major upgrade from the A8 series available in the previous phones.
The biggest new feature of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus is the new 3D Touch. This is basically force touch which has been in talk for quite long time. It can recognize touch in three different ways. The sensors for 3D touch are capacitive sensors below the backlight of the retina display. The software, iOS9 is also optimized in the manner that it can detect the pressure on the display and act accordingly. There are lots of new options and quick shortcuts available with the force touch and iOS9.
Apart from this, Apple has also improved the camera on iPhone and now it comes with a 12MP iSight camera which is an improvement over the 8MP camera on the last year iPhones. The camera now comes with improved colors and auto focus. It also features 5MP Facetime HD camera for selfies. There is also Retina Flash for the front camera, the entire display can light up 3X brighter than usual to be a flash for the front-facing camera.
The new iPhones also comes with 2nd generation touch ID which is again improved and made faster.
Pricing and Availability:
The new iPhones come in four colors – silver, space grey, gold and pink. They will be available for pre-order on September 12th and will be shipping in 2 weeks time. It will be initially available in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Honk Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, UK and US. By the end of this year, it will be available in 130 countries and 400 carriers.
Pricing will be same as old iPhones with iPhone 6S starting at $199 and iPhone 6S Plus at $299 on contract.
