HTC has announced the new Butterfly 3 smartphone, which is the successor to last year’s Butterfly 2. HTC Butterfly 3 comes with a 5.2-inch QHD LCD display (1440 x 2560 pixels) and is powered by Snapdragon 810 Octa core chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device is at 32GB and could be expanded by up to 2TB via microSD.
The specs of the device is similar to the HTC Butterfly J which is the flagship phone of the company in Japan.
The phone has 20.2MP primary camera on the rear which is a duo camera set up from HTC with a secondary sensor to capture distance information. This allows for post-shot autofocusing and it has a Sapphire crystal-protected lens with f/2.2. There is also dual-tone dual-LED flash and also supports 4K video recording. The front camera is a 13MP selfie camera which can shoot videos in 1080p.
The smartphone measures 150.99 x 72.99 x 9.99mm and weighs 161g. It also comes with a 2,700mAh battery and one of the important features of the device is that it carries an IP57 rating for dust and water protection.
The phone comes with usual set of options like 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. There is also HTC BoomSound along with Dolby Audio.
The HTC Butterfly 3 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Sense 7 on top of it. It will currently launched in and is priced approx $600 and comes in three colors- white, carmine (red) and midnight blue. There is no mention on the global availability and pricing.
