Today, power banks play an important role in our digital life as we carry more than one smartphone and the battery is still a major issue on phones. While power banks have existed in India for long time, Xiaomi’s entry into India with Mi Powerbank created a new segment of cheap high capacity power banks. Soon OnePlus, ASUS, Honor and other launched affordable power banks. Yu Televentures also announced the launch of their power banks with the capacity of 10000mAh and 5000mAh to compete with Xiaomi, ASUS and OnePlus. The Yu power bank is called JYUICE and is available in two capacities and is exclusive to Snapdeal.
Here is the detailed review of JYUice Power bank.
The retail packaging of JYUice comes with;
- JYUICE power bank 10000mAh capacity
- USB charging cable
- Warranty
Design and Build:
Design wise, the YU JYUICE is one of the good looking power banks out there and has a different design altogether. It has a candy bar design and it feels great in hands with sharp edges all round. It also has a metallic body with a premium finishing. It is pretty slim when compared to OnePlus and Mi Power banks. JYUICE has the size of a smartphone and it is pretty compact to hold as well.
On the top panel, we have the specs mentioned along with 10000 capacity. The bottom portion has the slots for charging which is a micro USB slot and two USB output slots. There is also an indicator which changes color based on the capacity of the power bank. There is no power on or off button like the Mi Power bank.
While the overall design and material quality of the power bank looked pretty solid, we felt the USB drives were flimsy in their positioning and it moved quite a lot when you insert the USB cable in and out.
Performance:
The YU JYUICE power bank comes with 10000mAh battery capacity and there are two USB slots to charge the battery. The Lithium-Polymer battery has input and output capacities are as follows.
- Input- 5V, 2A max
- Output
- 5V, 1A max
- 5v, 2.1A max
With the 2.1A port, you can ever charge tablets, both the ports can be used to charge smartphones. There is a USB cable provided in the box which has just the adequate length required. If you connect the USB cable to the phone and power bank without moving the power bank, it does not charge. It seems like there is a motion sensor which starts charging the device if you move it. There is also an indicator light which actually doesn’t work well. There are three indicator colors- Green for 100%, orange for anything around the half mark and red for low charge.
While most of the power banks have 4 LED indicators for 25% of the charge, this mechanism on JYUICE doesn’t serve the purpose. We tested the power bank multiple times with two smartphones with capacity almost 3000mAh+.
Almost all the case, we never could even start charging a third smartphone even with the 10000mAh capacity and this is the most disappointing aspect of the power bank. Ideally you are getting only close to 6500mAh on this power bank. This is where the Mi and OnePlus are far better performers than YU.
Overall, we were quite disappointed with the capacity offered.
Verdict:
Priced at Rs 1099, the JYUICE comes with great design and build quality, but it all ends there. With a pretty low performance and no option of a proper indicator light, it is hard to recommend the YU JYUICE power bank over Mi and OnePlus.
