Huawei has announced the successor of the popular Honor 4X, the Huawei Honor 5X in China today. The Honor 5X is a big upgrade from the previous generation and comes with good specs which makes it a decent mid range phone. The new Honor 5X sports a 5.5 inch Full HF (1920 X 1080p) display and is powered by the Snapdragon 616 Octa core 64 bit processor (1.7 GHz Cortex A53 and quad-core 1.2 GHz A53) with either 2GB or 3GB RAM options.
The phone has Adreno 405 GPU and it comes with 16GB internal storage which is expandable via micro SD card.
At the back, the Honor 5X sports a fingerprint sensor built on Huawei’s latest sensor tech and this allows you to unlock the device in just 0.4s. On the imaging front, the device comes with a 13MP camera with dual LED flash and a front facing 5MP snapper for selfies. The Honor 4X was a good device in the camera department and we expect the Honor 5X to have some good photography abilities.
The phone also packs 3000mAh battery and it supports Quick Charge 3.0, allowing you to charge up to 50% of the battery in just 30 minutes. The Honor 5X will have a dual SIM card slots with dual standby mode as well as 4G LTE on both slots.
The 2GB RAM variant of the phone will retail for $157 (CNY 999), while the version with 3GB RAM will be available for $220 (CNY 1,399). We expect this device to come to India in the next couple of months.
