Micromax has launched their flagship phone under the Canvas series, the new Canvas 5. It has been almost 2 years since the company launched the Canvas 4 and they were lacking in a flagship quality device to compete with Moto G3, Xiaomi and other budget players. The new Micromax Canvas 5 comes with a 5.2 inch Full HD display with 2.5D curved screen with slim bezels. The device is powered by 1.3GHz 64-bit Octa-Core MediaTek MT6753 processor with Mali-T720 GPU.
The phone comes with 3GB of RAM and this is the first Micromax phone to come with 3GB RAM.
The phone also features 16GB internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB using microSD card. On the software front the phone is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop with almost stock like experience. The phone is also equipped with 13MP rear camera having Samsung 3M2 sensor along with phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF). The front camera is a 5MP and also comes with front facing flash.
The phone also packs a 2900mAh battery which the company claims would provide 10 hours of talk time and up to 275 hours of standby time.
The phone has dual SIM cards with 4G LTE support along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Micromax Canvas 5 will be available in two colors of Space Grey and Tan brown starting from today across India. The device is priced at Rs. 11,999 and comes with double data offer for Airtel 4G customers for 3 months along with 7 day door step service policy.
With the launch of Canvas 5, the device would give tough competition to Xiaomi Mi4i and Moto G3 along with other budget devices like ASUS Zenfone 2 laser. We will have hands on and detailed review later, so stay tuned.
