OnePlus has concentrated on the design elements in the OnePlus X and we have two variants, the Onyx and Ceramic. Design wise, the OnePlus X is a good looking device with front and rear panel made of glass. The rear panel has a glossy finish with the 13MP camera and OnePlus logo.
The edges and sides of the device are curved and feels pretty good in hands, but at the same time it is slippery due to the glossy finish. It is slim and light weight to hold and perfect for one handed use as it is a 5 inch device. On the left side, there is a slider for switching profiles, which we have seen on lot of devices off late. The right side houses the SIM tray, volume keys and the power button. The 3.5 mm audio jack houses the top portion while the speaker and the micro USB charging slot located at the bottom. The phone does not comes with removable rear panels. The frame of the device is made of metal while the front and rear panels are finished in glass.
The front panel has the 5 inch Full HD display, front facing camera and the three capacitive touch buttons. Unfortunately the buttons are not backlit, but you can always configure the buttons to be available on screen. The 5 inch display looks brilliant with excellent colors and viewing angles. The touch response is also very good and there is Corning Gorilla glass 3 support.
The OnePlus X comes with a 13MP rear camera and front 8MP camera. In our initial testing, we found the camera to be impressive with great clarity. We will post the detailed review of the camera soon, so stay tuned. The OnePlus X is powered by the Snapdragon 801 Chipset with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The performance was impressive in the first usage. While there is micro SD card expansion slot, it uses the hybrid SIM card slot, so you can either use dual SIMs or single SIM with micro SD card. The internal storage available was around 11.5GB in the first boot.
The phone comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Oxygen OS 2.1 which offers additional customizations and options including gesture support. The UI looks more or less like stock experience. The battery capacity of the device is 2525mAh which we feel is slightly on the lower side, but we will have detailed testing before we give a verdict on it.
The phone is priced Rs 16,999 and available exclusively on Amazon via invite system. We will have the detailed review coming up on our blog soon, meanwhile do check out our YouTube channel for more videos on this device.
My friend got it in 2 days after the sales was open. The phone is awesome to use, very smooth with good features and style. The only thing which bothered us is the no physical keyboard light
